Music...Music...Music

Welcome Back! So, I was looking for bands to do my blog on this week, and I decided that i'm going to take a week off of doing a band for my blog. This week will just be me talking about music I like, and whatever else I feel like talking about at the moment (pertaining to music of course). So, I hope that those of you who read this will be ok with the slight change of subject.

The first thing I will talk about is how I love going to shows. Who knows, it might even get some of you to take a chance and explore that aspect of the music world. Even if you don't like the music that is played at these "shows" you can still enjoy them. I have found that it is probably about as fun, if not more fun, to just people watch at the shows. It is hilarious to see how some of these kids dance. It thorougly entertains me when i go to shows. These kids help others who are more self consious about how they dance to break out of that mold. To let the straight-laced letd down their hair and headbang away.

Another thing that i love about shows is how diverse everyone is there. There may be a hardcore guy with a grungy girl. There may be an emo girl with a scene boy. The punk rocker with a skater boy. People who love the music, or people who are just there because their friends drug them. People who live for the shows, and people who have never been to a show...Anyway, you get the point. A show is a melting pot for different types of teens and young adults who like music and breaking their eardrums. Ha ha ha.

So, now i will talk about music I like, why I like it, and what i hate about certain music.
One kind of music that I despise for the most part is "Top 100", "Top 20 Countdown", mainly mainstream music. Now, if we really wanted to be here all day I could sit here and tell every reason I hate mainstream music. It would be a very long list, so i'm going to just select a few of the main reasons that i hate it. Reason one: overplayed. When the rare, decent song comes on a stations like HOT 97.5 you may like it at first and be ok with hearing it maybe twice in a day. But no, stupid popular music stations decide that they have to play the same 5 songs every 30 minutes. And when you generally drive at the same time everyday it makes you annoyed that  it seems you only ever hear ONE song on the radio, because by some annoying circumstance that is the song they always play at that time. For Instance, when "Dani California" by Red Hot Chilli Peppers came on, i already hated the song and the fact that no matter what time it was when i was driving to or from work it would ALWAYS be playing. I'm not even exaggerating. That and "Buttons". The only recent songs that i've liked that have made it onto the top 100 are ones such as "Gives You Hell" by All-American Rejects. But that tends to happen when bands i like have songs that hit the mainstream.

Seeing as how anyone out there might not want to hear me complain about bands or mainstream music there are some bands that i reccommend to check out if you haven't heard of them.
  • Saosin is really good, and they just released a new cd. Their song "You're Not Alone" is one of my favorite songs of all time. They have other good songs besides that one, but i can't think of any at the moment.
  • Emery is another fantastic band, they are one of those bands that sing and scream, they also make acoustic versions of their songs. They are a band that is Christian but doesn't nesecarily mark themselves as a Christian band. I reccommend "The Ponytail Parades" either the acoustic version or the original version are fantastic. I also reccommend "Fractions".
  • Forever the Sickest Kids is a PowerPop band. They do an amazing cover of the song "Men In Black" for the cd "Punk Goes Crunk" and a cover of "When I Grow Up" for the cd "Punk Goes Pop 2" another artist featured on "Punk Goes Pop 2" that is good is Attack!Attack!. They do a cover of "I Kissed A Girl".
  • Mayday Parade is freaking fantastic, "Miserable at Best" is really good, but not their only good song
  • Paramore who has also released a new cd that i believe is entitled "Brand New Eyes"
  • Blink-182 (whoever has not heard of them must have been asleep during their reign.) "Down," "Always," "I Miss You," "Girl at the Rock Show," "What's My Age Again?," "All the Small Things," "Feeling This,"
  • Bullet For My Valentine is a hardcore band that also has slower melodies/balads. "Forever and Always," "Everything I Hate (Revolves Around Me)," "Tears Don't Fall," and "Hearts Burst Into Fire" are just a few of their great songs.
Well, i could go on forever, but i'll just leave it at this. Check out these songs!!!!! I'll see you next week!!!
